This weekend was another one for the books! Our very own Bro. Richard Hall was crowned Mr. Black Student Movement at this year’s BSM Ball!
Richard has been very involved with the organization as a member of one of BSM’s premier subgroups, Harmonyx. He has also served as a host of various BSM events and leader for various BSM campaigns.
As one of the largest cultural organizations on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the Black Student Movement is proud of an annual membership of students from several different backgrounds. Learn more at uncbsm.com.
Bro. Richard Hall
Mr. Black Student Movement
“I believe the purpose of the Black Student Movement is to be a connecting point as well as advocate for black people, black issues, and allies. As a first-year, I was able to gain my first sense of community through BSM’s first general body meeting. It allowed me to meet a group of people that would soon become my family, friends, and unwavering support system throughout my Carolina journey. I quickly became connected to BSM as a member by joining Harmonyx, attending BSM events, and helping to launch “Fresh Fridays” with fellow BSM members.
While a BSM member I have served as Special Events Coordinator and Bass Section Leader of Harmonyx A Capella Group and Host of the BSM 50th Anniversary Fashion Show. During my time with Harmonyx I have had the opportunity to represent BSM by performing at Late Night With Roy, singing the National anthem for the Charlotte Hornets, and singing for the Carolina For The Kids Holiday Charity Auction.”
