We’d like to thank The Daily Tar Heel for featuring the first event of our series of events titled ‘Trap Week’! Trap Week is a week of events that engages students around trap music and hip hop culture. The events are geared to highlight the musical art-form and the communities that create it. The Mu Zeta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. partnered with the Student Hip Hop Organization, Minim Seles, and DJ Chan to execute the week totaling 6 events.
“Jalen Heyward, member of the Mu Zeta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, gave those in attendance of ‘Beez in the Trap’ a mini-tutorial into creating a trap music beat on garage band. Heyward came prepared with a beat to show the group.
Evans volunteered and created a short piece with assistance from the audience to make a flow that included 808 tracks, beats and piano.
The entire session was interactive from start to finish.” - The Daily Tar Heel
Thank you to The Daily Tar Heel, our partners, and attendees! We look forward to seeing you throughout the duration of Trap Week as we advance music education and our community!
